About
the Red Lion

Situated in the rural, picturesque village of Milfield, The Red Lion Inn is a classic stone building dating back to the mid 1700’s.

Originally frequented by the Sheep Drovers of the northern counties and became a major resting point for the Mail Stage Coach carrying passengers and mail between Edinburgh and London.

We’re located on the edge of Northumberland National Park, with the Cheviot Hills in walking distance; making us the perfect place to visit before exploring the area.

Traditional DINING

Diners can be assured of wholesome home cooked food, freshly prepared using locally sourced seasonal ingredients. Come and visit us and try our menu.

Ales, Wines & More

There is wide choice of beverages to accompany your meal. We have a range of ales and an extensive wine selection, as well as low and zero alcohol options for the driver.

ACCOMMODATION

We have six guest bedrooms, all ensuite, available on a Bed and Breakfast basis. Our rooms are comfortably furnished and offer a relaxing break.

Dogs are welcome in the bar area, on the outside decking and within our accommodation. Unfortunately we do not allow dogs in the main restaurant (with exception for guide dogs).

What People Say

Fiona

FROM TRIPADVISOR

“We went here for drinks and supper in the sunshine on bank holiday Monday. Menu had lots of choices plus a light bite section too. Both our meals were served quickly and were very tasty and well presented. Menu is not over priced and we would certainly return if in the area again. A lovely old pub in a nice little village!”

LRJ

FROM TRIPADVISOR

“We ate here last night as we were staying at the B&B over the road. We had garlic mushrooms and chicken goujons to start and fish and chips for mains and sticky toffee to share for pud. Was really tasty homemade pub grub and lovely attentive staff! Would recommend if you’re in the area.”
